A great day for Edinburgh as the doors open on the first single malt whisky distillery in the centre of the town for almost 100 years.
Holyrood Distillery throws open its doors today – July 30th – for an opening day and first tours. It’s a historic occasion for Edinburgh as there hasn’t been a single malt distillery operating in central Edinburgh since 1925 when the Edinburgh Distillery shut up shop.
The distillery will produce single malt whisky alongside a range of gins from a repurposed 1830s railway goods shed on the fringe of Holyrood Park. it’s aiming to be a major draw for tourists and locals alike, with a visitor experience and shop showcasing a distillery focused on maximum flavour in all its spirits.
We wish them all the best
